A Roman Catholic church of 1852-4 by Charles Hansom, completed 1861-3 by Gilbert Blount. MATERIALS: The church is constructed of stone, with a slate roof. PLAN: The church is aligned liturgically east - west, with a nave with north and south aisles and a small tower at the western end. There are two transepts and the sanctuary at the eastern.

The foundations of St. Dominic's Convent were begun on 15th August 1852 on Pinfold Croft, on land given by Mr. James Beech of the parish. Subsequently the tiny school chapel of St Anne was designed by A. W. Pugin and built for Barberi, in 1843-4. This survives in use in the grounds of the convent and is associated with a small burial ground. It cost £600 and has an east window by William Wailes.
