Il est resté une caserne militaire jusqu'en 1990, c'est aujourd'hui le Tribunal d'Instance de Nice. La Tour de l'Horloge fut le symbole du pouvoir communal sécularisé capable de distribuer le temps à l'égal du pouvoir religieux.

Stop here for a moment. On your left is the Palais Rusca. It was built in 1776 as barracks for a city garrison that could hold up to 725 men. It continued to be used as a barracks until 1990 when it became an annex of the Palais de Justice courts. It still functions as a courthouse. Continue through the passage to the square ahead.
