The 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4*S N.A.R.T. Spyder Was Auctioned For A Staggering Sum. RM Auctions in Monterey sold at an auction in 2013 the NART Spyder for $27.5 million, against expectations that it would fetch $10 million to $14 million. As per Autoweek, this was at the time the highest price ever paid for a Ferrari car and the largest price paid.

The name of this model was derived from the engine's per-cylinder displacement of 275 cc and the Italian designation Gran Turismo Berlinetta. The 275 GTB used a double overhead cam 3.3 litre Colombo-designed 60º V-12 engine designated Tipo 213.

While it owed a lot to Ferraris of the past in terms of design and sporting intent, the 275 GTB included many firsts for the marque including the first four-wheel independent suspension and the first synchromesh five-speed transaxle gearbox in a roadgoing Ferrari. In its original form, the car is today known by the unofficial name "short nose."

Introduced at the Paris Motor Show in October 1966, the Ferrari 275 GTB/4 (or 4-cam) used the same basic platform as the earlier 275 GTB with mostly mechanical improvements. The Scaglietti-built bodywork was largely the same as the series II "long-nose" 275 GTB, with the most visible difference being an added hood bulge with creased edges.

The restored GTB/4 then debuted at a cinema-focused exhibit at Ferrari's museum in Maranello, where it remained on display through October 2013. Offered by Schuppan at RM Auctions' flagship sale at Monterey, California, in August 2014, the 275 was acquired by the British collector David Moores, whose estate is currently offering the car.
